Charlotte Peterswald Property offices, Neutral Bay

Starting with an empty concrete shell can be daunting, but client Charlotte Peterswald was keen to fill this 3 level, 80s building with people and plants. Taking Charlotte's branding colours of gold, navy and pale blue as a starting point, as well as the greenhouse-like shape of the heavily glazed building, we went about designing office spaces for her own staff as well as two levels of short + long term office rental spaces, incorporating plenty of colourful, soft elements and greenery.

The building sits on busy Military Road, Neutral Bay, so sound proofing was crucial. Acoustic Echopanels by Woven Image were used to line the walls on the ground floor, as well as the half-walls of office + desk frames across all levels. These panels are made in NSW from 70% recycled PET and have a felt-like appearance that quietens as well as softens the spaces. Carpets by Interface were used throughout, a global company dedicated to a net zero carbon footprint by 2020.

The Ground floor accommodates Charlotte's staff, with a comfortable seating / meeting area filled with vintage furniture, a large vintage rug plus an eclectic collection of art works and plants. Two long, spacious rows of desks are backed by a private meeting and storage area with kitchenette, providing everything the company could need.

Glass panels above the Echopanel half-walls allow the abundant light to stream through the spaces from the windows that look out onto the surrounding area, with privacy decals to be added between office spaces. Each discrete office space on levels 1 + 2 can seat up to 3 to 4 people comfortably and are lockable spaces with multiple data and power points. The 1st floor office spaces enjoy a double height ceiling to one side. A generous break-out / meeting space has been added to the 2nd floor to make use of the area under the sloping facade. Colourful, elegant velvet chairs + timber meeting table lend a touch of class to the airy space.

It was such a pleasure to work with clients and a builder - Antosz Construction - with flair and imagination, unafraid of colour and keen to bring nature into the space.
