North Bondi house

Set back from busy Bondi Beach, this house is in the quiet enclave of North Bondi. With a verdant tropical garden & good natural light throughout, the garden & interiors needed better connection. Bathrooms needed an upgrade & the master bedroom needed a layout change & improved storage. Work spaces were required so the couple could more comfortably work from home.

The opening between internal living & garden spaces was enlarged to allow floor to ceiling sliding glass doors with screens. A generous new deck with layered levels of seating now spills out from the living room, with a new BBQ area & storage. Spotted gum decking was used and a feature made of the balustrade rail by sourcing an upcycled timber beam from Ironwood Timber. A retractable UV-proof awning, in fern-green colour to blend into the garden, from Homelife Furnishings allows the deck to be a shady space used through even the hottest periods.

Also on the ground floor, an existing laundry/WC space was enlarged to allow the creation of a shower room for guests & improved laundry facilities. A third bedroom is now home to a wall of new cabinetry that hides a TV & fold-down guest bed, making extra usable living & work space for the whole family.

On the first floor, an existing bathroom was re-designed to allow a bath to take pride of place. The master bedroom layout was re-worked to enlarge the existing ensuite & create a work station. Extensive new storage cabinetry designed for both the master & second bedroom now houses clothes, linen, toys & more, with open shelving in key areas.

The bathrooms were tiled using large format tiles from Kaolin Tiles & small format tiles from Earp Bros. Desk, shelving & robe cabinetry was custom-made by Timberline Joinery. New wool carpet was laid throughout.

Thank you to our wonderful clients for being so engaged in the design process & efficient in their choice making. We hope they will enjoy their improved home for many years to come.
